Privacy Policy
Wiri Market ("we", "us", "our") operates a marketplace connecting consumers with restaurants for online ordering and table reservations. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account details you provide directly: name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text), and any delivery addresses you save.
- If you sign in with Google or Facebook: your name, email address, and provider account ID, shared with us only after you approve the login and only when the provider confirms your email is verified.
- Order and reservation details: items ordered, quantities and any modifiers selected, delivery or pickup preference, reservation date/time/party size, and any notes you add for the restaurant.
- Payment information: we do not store your card details. Payments are processed directly by Paystack, Flutterwave, or Stripe, and we retain only a transaction reference and the amount charged.
- Content you choose to post: restaurant reviews and ratings, forum posts and replies, and restaurant-page comments.
- Technical information collected automatically: IP address, browser type, and standard web server logs, used for security and to keep the service running reliably.
How we use this information
- To process and fulfil your orders and reservations, including sending the necessary order/reservation details to the restaurant you're ordering from.
- To create and manage your account, including authenticating you when you log in.
- To send transactional messages: order confirmations, reservation confirmations, and account-related notices. We do not send marketing email unless you separately opt in.
- To detect fraud, enforce our terms, and moderate user-submitted content (reviews, forum posts, restaurant-page posts) for safety.
- To understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g. which restaurants are viewed) so we can improve the service — this analysis does not involve selling your personal data to anyone.
How we share information
We share only what's necessary to provide the service:
- With the specific restaurant you order from or reserve a table at — your name, contact details, order or reservation details, and delivery address where relevant, so they can fulfil your request.
- With our payment processors (Paystack, Flutterwave, Stripe) solely to process your payment.
- If your account is linked to a corporate account, order-level information (not your password or personal browsing activity) may be visible to that company's designated administrator for billing purposes.
- Where required to comply with a legal obligation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wiri Market, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly functional cookies: to keep you signed in, to protect forms against cross-site request forgery, to remember where to redirect you after login, and briefly during social login to prevent request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Sensitive credentials that restaurants provide to connect their systems to ours (API tokens, webhook secrets, payment gateway credentials) are encrypted at rest. All traffic to the site is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Data retention
We retain your account and order history for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for accounting, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes. You can request deletion at any time — see below.
Your rights
You can access or correct your account details at any time by signing in. To request a copy of your data or to request deletion, see our Data Deletion page.
Children's privacy
This service is not directed at children, and is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
